And last question: what size footprint is the total absolute minimum for a FEMALE horn shark that is tank raised? Please answer if you know. I'm getting desperate
How much experience do you have in keeping salt tanks? I don't have a lot so don't take it as I'm preaching, but I know enough to know what I don't understand maybe go for a 350-500 gallon if you want to starting and see how you do for a year or two with simple fish, see how well it fits your budget and free time
Thanks tb86 I have a bit of Experiennce with my 45 gallon and the shark would Certainly not be the first fish in there. I know I need a lot more experience. Thanks for the concern!
Okay for the Marbled Catshark aka Atelomycterus macleayi. from LiveAquaria - is a photo of a Coral Catshark (Atelomycterus marmoratus); but the information is talking about a White-spotted Bamboo Shark (Chiloscyllium plagiosum) which is sometimes called a Marbled Bamboo "Cat" shark. The information from wikipedia is correct species.
Yeah a 480-500 gallon (8ft long x 4ft wide x 2ft high) would work for keeping a female Cali Horn Shark until about maturity. But female Cali horns will reach at least 36-40" (91-100 cm) as full grown adults - and note females tend to be larger than males, and the species reported maximum is about 4 ft long. So ultimately an Adult Cali Horn will need a much larger tank/pond than a 500 gallon.
