Can i keep pleco with piranha

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It won't work unless there's such thing as friendly RBP's

Gold nuggets aren't all that hardy.

Plus plecos have soft bellies and I'm pretty sure piranha know how to kill whatever they feel is food.

I've had oscars flip over and eat a big pleco belly first. Can't compare an oscars jaws to those of a piranha

I kept a 10" Pleco with a 5" RBP for 2yrs without anu issues, but every fish is different.............

You should get a blue eyed panaque to keep with them. Would make an awesome addition. Rapps has one for sale now
No offense but I rather use cheaper plecos with the piranhas than an expensive & rare pleco.

Iv had a 6 inch pleco with my rbps for about 8 months and they never bothered him..not even a fin nip..there in a 55

All of you who have kept or are keeping plecos with your RBP's probably have common plecos who are aggressive fish and extremely hardy and strong. If not please tell us what type it is.

OP says he wants to put in a gold nugget pleco.
They are very sensitive and do not do well in stressful situations.

A common or sail fin I can see working maybe even a big scarlet but not a gold nugget.

I know someone kept a Bristlenose pleco with the piranhas with no issues and another fishkeeper kept Chinese Algae eater (not a pleco) with piranhas with no issues. I wouldn't put a big scarlet pleco with piranhas due to the flowing fins of the scarlet pleco which can triggering piranhas to nipping...not mentioned that a scarlet pleco is very expensive!

That slipped my mind
100% agree with you

I'd keep it cheap common or sail fin BN is even cheaper.
