Catching invasive freshwater fish in Florida.

I brought home some mayan cichlids from the pond in the condo complex I stay at in Fort Myers. I used a 5 gallon bucket with battery powered airstone without a problem.
that's what I want - wild caught Mayans, might consider trying to get them to go brackish since they do it anyway in the wild.

How long were they in the buckets and how often did you have to pour out/refill them to keep getting rid of the ammonia/nitrates?

I took these shots 20 ft off the main highway, and just outside of Everglades City.
There are uropthalmus and Tilapines in the 1st, oscars in the 2nd

It was in the bucket for about 24 hours. I never changed the water or added anything

I have caught some pretty big clown knifes down in the Miami area. Lots of Mayans and oscars in the canals. Peacocks are plentiful in the canals as well. They're a far north as Naples. Obviously lots of gar and native stuff as well.

Find some freshwater locked tarpon. They are a blast to catch
