Catfish Stung Me!

Kinda funny in a bad way but a catfish spine has killed before, I don't have the link to the article off hand but it was a monster pangasius gigas (mekong giant catfish around 300+lbs) in the 1940's if I remember correctly, it straight up steve irwin'ed a guy in the chest with its pectoral fin and killed him

It's funny you bring this up because just the other day I was cleaning a tank at the evil empire that had 3" pictus cats in it. I wasn't exactly being gentle in my redecorating and got a poke on my water logged index finger. Just a little blood but the pain shot through my arm.

NOTE TO SELF: ...No matter how small the cat they can be a ***** when they get you.

Think I have read the same article. It was a paroon shark if I remember correctly. He was trying to free it from his fishing net without harming it, and was gorged in the chest. He died and the villagers freed the catfish from the net.

in my previous fishing experiences i often got channel cats or flat heads large enough where they had more of a nub left rather then a spine! none the less, I've heard if you rub your "sting" on their tummys the slime coat kind of helps relieve the pain.. dont know how much truth that holds...

yeah its sucks man
my grandad caught a rather large yellow cat and the entire spine broke off in his hand. my mom pulled it out with pliers. grandad was a really big man and a veteran of WWII. he writhed and squirmed because of the pain.

i got stuck a while back by a small channel
he got me in the fatty part of my hand. i dont think it would have been too bad if i hadnt jerked away but i did so it tore it up more than it should have.

it almost made me cry.

Hold your thumb under hot water to neutralize the proteins which are teh basis for toxins. More than likely the toxins hurt you yesterday and the bacteria is hurting you today. If it doenst heal up in 5 days go get a shot.

I was stuck by a Dogfish Spine, and the bacterial made a white ring around the punctor and I developed a red line from it. Thats a sure sign of Bacterial infection. If it doesnt look bad and just hurts it'll prolly be fine.
