changing water for stingray

atleast one 50% water change a week.....depends on your bio load....I used to do 2 @ 50 percent a week.....
I want to know if everyone uses aged water with them at all either (like with discus or other amazon fish). I woudl assume yes if they are wildcaught, but not sure about the captives.
If that could supplement the question on "how frequent are the water changes with rays" questions that would be great.

Test your water regularly for nitrAte and do sufficient water changes to keep it at an acceptable level. With experience you will soon get a picture of how much water you need to change, and how often. Depends greatly on tank water volume, stocking levels, size of fish, feeding, etc., but it will probably need to be 50% per week minimum.

Dechlorinated tap water is fine, whether rays are wild caught or not, no need to age the water. A new ray should be acclimatised carefully but thereafter they can thrive in a wide range of water parameters as long as pH stability and water quality are maintained.
Thats very interesting that they don;t require aged water. It seems the most difficult thing involved in keeping them (besides space) is enough biological filtration to break down the high amounts of ammonia they put out and sufficient water changes. I was thinking they were at least as tough as discus maybe even as hard to keep as german rams as far as needing specific water parameters.
I just heard a ton of horror stories from poopsmart customers about their rays that died because they didn't use bottled water, they had hit a rock (and that kills them, a lady told me her ray swam around the tank and it bumped into a piece of gravel in the sand with its disc and died) or something and just croaked. It seems these claims were flim flammery at its finest.

Wow! I guess some people would prefer to come up with any lame excuse for their fish dying rather than face up to the most likely cause i.e. neglecting to maintain good water quality on their part.
