All that baby needs is nitrates and some ambient light

If no3 is to high it will have opposite effect, I've dabbled in hydroponics for years, pothos is a great plant but you still need acclimation to the aquarium environment, cleaner water will help the acclimation process then as no3 builds the plant will do its job

I wasn't going against anything you said, he asked if they need a seperate lite, all pothos need is some n03 and lite/ambient for aquariums! Good point about acclimation!

Didn't mean to come off jaded ;) lol, also will help to expose some of the roots at the base of the plant to oxygen, don't sit the entire plant into the water up to its base, leave at least 1/2" exposed

Some new foliage to be added soon uploadfromtaptalk1350343665619.jpg

I never thought of that, I always thought that section of root would dry out if not submerged... Thanks for the tip, appreciate that! Nice new addition!

Just bought another for the planted tank, at star nursery here in Las Vegas NV $14.07 with tax :) size 9-1/2 shoe for comparison

That's about the size mine were when I bought them, I have 2 and I see minus 12-18ppm so far, going on 6-7 weeks since planted.

I want to find a good way to conceal roots and keep tank space at max, no sump, my hydro baskets take up 2 6x6x5" gaps at the top of my tank, I may do a 2"deepx18"long acrylic rectangle with small holes so that the roots can establish with minimum consumption of tank space whilst sucking up n03! New design should be done by Thursday! Pics to come, going for low cost!

Iv seen it done with an acrylic box like you describe, the box es not submmerged at all sat on top of tank with return flowing thru the box, of you don't want the sound I'd water raining from the box to the tank thru holes on the bottom you can use a drain made of PVC than dips below tank water level

Personally I like the look of roots growing in the tank

That's a good idea, I like the roots too but my baskets take up too much room. I'll figure something out, thanks for the tip man, your advice is always first class!

Would it be beneficial to have an airstone underneath the pothos to get it more oxygen or would that slow the growth?
Air stone would increase flow, which is beneficial. Maybe 00roll can further explain ;)

F1, Would this be it? It doesnt looking as viney or does that happen as it grows?

Yes that's it! A relatively young and small plant, give it a couple months in your tank, it will quadruple! The vines with eventually start branching out!
