Cichlasoma sp. "La Palma" EGGS!!! :D

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well it's day 3 and te eggs are still there so I'm hopefully I'll get wigglers soon :D

The "Mudhole" had a surprising amount of life! I didn't record all the species we caught unfortunately but I took home about 12 tetras and 2 pairs of Cr. lepidota from this site. And if my memory serves me correctly there were a couple species of other tetras and catfish found there too. Here are some photos of the others I caught

I don't have any pics of my "Las Palmas" but they're in a darker tank than Armand's and appear more blue-ish.

Here's a pic of one of my old C. dimerus from Bella Union (unhappy in a show tank) a couple of years ago. These guys are one of my favorite fish!

Really, really hard to ID random acaras... The chances of it being one of these is less than 1 in a million...

Well I thought it was special when I got it and it looks like no other acara I've ever seen before. I will post a pic for the EXPERTS, but it does have the same coloration as 1st pics.

Matt: Gorgeous Dimerus!!!

Decker: I could be wrong but I believe there have only been two collecting groups to La Palma....hmmm maybe there was one other last year.....I'll have to ask Felipe. Anyway the two groups that I know of one was Norwegian and ours. Matt got his from a mutual friend Peter and Ken and I have ours. None us us bred ours last year so I don't believe there are any others in the US. It could be C. dimerus which does look similar and Ken and others have bred them in the past. BUT no one will know till we see pics of yours

I've got wigglers!!! It took about 3 and half days for the eggs to hatch. Planning to move the wigglers to 20L in a bit and get my brine shrimp hatchery ready. But for now I'll let the parents care for them

Nope not yet. They are hoping around a bit so I imagine tomorrow they will be. I have baby brine shrimp and micro worm cultures ready for them once they do!

They are swimming today!!! I'm a little disappointed with my brine shrimp....more need to hatch but luckily I have the micro worms to help supplement.
