Well you guys have me sold on the sump now. The terrible reality is that I have already bought the canister filters and will likely only get a store credit. Guess I'll spend the $800 on other things eventually lol. I have a whole lot of research to do on sumps now. I hate to be a bother but any advice on buying or building the ideal system would be greatly appreciated. I am a plumber so piping systems aren't confusing to me but treat me like a baby anyways haha. Thanks again you guys are awesome!

$800 dollars would had landed you a great sump with lids. To answer your question though you'll get ranges from buying a tank and turning into sump with little effort, to adding baffles, to buying pre made sumps, or some who make the entire sump from scratch.

If I were you , I would do some reading on types of aquarium drains, get ideas for the broad range of sumps and pricing and see what you want to spend. You can go with super simple, but it's worth looking on youtube seeing all your options.

As you are a plumber, go PVC all the way for function and looks!

How often do you have to clean the canisters? Do you have the heaters covered for the ray? Could I possibly see a picture of your tank, stock and set up? Thanks so much

I have no heater as my country is warm 365 days a year. Average water temperature is 29 celsius in the night and 31 in the day... Tank is situated outside but under shelter

Canisters I clean about every 2-3 months and the time between both canisters are cleaned is about 1 month

Sorry for the lousy pic, upgrading handphone soon lol
