Hi everybody,
I just bought two Cichla monos (about 6" - 7" in size) and noticed that one of them has a cloudy eye.
I read the forum and saw that I should do water changes and add salt. Can I please have more specific advice.
My tank is 6' X 2.5 ' X 2' size (about 220 gal) + 60 gallon sump.

How much salt should I add and how often? Only one time?

How much water change should I perform at a time and how often?

The other tank mates are 1 FlagTail and 4 silver dollars.

Thank you for all the advice.

The type we use to make salt water for salt water aquariums? (Sorry for the ignorance. Just want to get this right).

Fresh water aquarium salt. NOT salt to make salt water aquarium.

Did it have cloudy eye before or did it occur due to netting/transporting the fish? If it was an existing issue, it might be too late. Hope it clears up for you. Clean water, good food, 86-88F, dose with aquarium salt. 1 tablespooon per 5-10 gallons.

there is nothing wrong with using non-iodide table salt. it will NOT kill your fish. If you want to spend 5.00 a pound vs. 33 cents for table salt then go ahead, aquarium salt is a waste of money IMO
