Clove Lake fishing (pics)

Today, Bottomfeeder and me went fishing at Clove Lake in Staten Island. We caught some sunfish, Bottomfeeder caught a shiner, and my friend caught two bullhead catfish. There were many fish, they just didn't bite even if you put the bait right in front of them.

someone ('s friend LOL) netted the Shiner and a 1'' part of the net got stuck to the hook and obstructed me pulling it out so since its a sensitive fish i just cut the line and released...hopefully the hook rusts out and the hook/net will just work its way loose...

why? it was a 1 inch piece of net fabric. cutting the line is a common practice and the hook rusts out in a few weeks. shiners arent active predators anyway, they eat stuff like insect larvae and plants and dead stuff, so its not like he cant hunt. he took off like a shot as soon as i released him, and it was better than just yanking it out and ruining his jaw...
