In a dream
Was told someone had a 280 gallon acrylic tank for sale and i sent an email with some questions about the tank. Still waiting for a response so in the meantime i was wondering what are the most common dimensions for a 280? It seems like an unusal size and just wondering if anyone knew what the most common footprints are? Thanks in advance.

Actually that size is not sold in a normal pet shop. I think its a modified tank. Try to visit this and discover for your own and possibly have an idea.

Thx but i already have that calculator and with that i could come up with alot of different possibilities and it could be endless. Hoping someone that owned a 280 or knows someone with a 280 could share their dimensions.

I'm in the design phase of a DIY glass 300 with measurements of 96 x 30 x 24 if that's any help at all. Most 300's that I've seen that are manufactured are 96 x 24 x 30 though (I keep cichlids and need the larger footprint more than I need the height).

Thx for the info guys. The guy replied to my email and answered every question except letting me know what the dimensions were...lol. I guess i could go to his house to check it out but would hate to go down there and it really is something like 36" tall. .. I dont have any scuba gear...haha

Get dimensions before you go down. Email him and keep bugging him.

I almost made a 4 hour trip (8 hour round trip) to go buy a 200 gallon tank. The seller advertised it as a 200, but kept dodging to answer the dimensions of the tank. By the 4th email, he told me the dimensions and it turned out to be a 100 gallon tank.

a local tank manufacturer in my area used to make a 275g that was:

72 x 24 x 36 tall

this is about as close as i have seen. huge tank, but at 36 tall, tough to reach the bottom..

Thats the exact dimensions of my tank. You are right about it being tough to reach the bottom :( I have to sit on top of the tank and use extra long grabbing tongs to reach the bottom and im 6'3''! Kind of regret getting this size now for maintenance, but damn does it look good though. haha
