Calm down on this. As an objective third party reading this, I took Chris' comments to be legitimate information, not an attack on you. This forum (and the aquarium hobby in general) has a really bad, and well earned, reputation for people treating each other like crap. If I (or any of my staff) got the impression this was out of hand, it'd be handled.

That being said, while Chris is new to MFK (welcome, btw), he is by no stretch of the imagination new to cichlids or attempts at hybridization. One being new to the forum doesn't mean that they're new to the hobby.

All that being said, I like what you've done! I'm excited to see what comes of this. If you're right and you've accomplished something novel, the forum has a way to recognize you for your accomplishment. If you're wrong and Chris is right, then the spirit of a MFKer is to learn and better yourself. No one in this hobby gets everything right all the time. One of my failures in identification led to a mislabeling of an entire species that's still circulating the hobby almost a decade later. Hell, there's like two or three people left in the hobby who might not hate me for it. ? ? ?

To be honest, I don't even know how to properly document fish, assuming there's a particular amount of pictures I'm going to have to take etc. to prove the disbelievers - and I've yet to have anyone even offer up that info for me.

So what is the proper process then, that's really the advice I need here...

Pics/vids of them spawning would be the best to prove it. Along with that being a big part of the documentation process. Stages of life pics too eggs, wigglers, fry, little fish so on.

I feel like this disagreement was caused by and can be summed up in that you two each didn't understand what the other was saying very well. I've been moderating these discussions for a very long time, and I genuinely believe that to be the case here.

I'm going to ask you two to just leave this in the past.

If you want to leave, I can't stop you, and won't try to. I feel like it's a bad decision to leave over a misunderstanding with one whole individual, but you're a grown person and have that right if you feel its best.

It wasn't just someone who didn't believe me, it's a credited breeder saying that what I posted is "definitely" not true - he didn't ask for proof, he said there was no way. As a newcomer to the hobby, a comment like that from a professional literally obliterates my credibility. Now there's no point in me posting updates on these babies because anybody reading through won't believe that they're actually what they are - and that's aside from everything else. It's just pretty disheartening when someone who you should be able to look up to shuts you down without discussion, and now I don't really feel like anything I say will mean anything on this forum until I have absolute proof ?‍ but eh, I'll get over it.

So I'll just be back in a couple months, once I've finished editing the entire process. Until then, nobody's going to believe a word I say anyway, right? ? ciao
