Creek Chub

Yes, I know to an experienced fish guy out of the water they don't look like large mouth bass, but in the creek or in a bucket they give that appearance.

Do you validate?

People that aren't fisherman and don't know native species mistake them for bass....

My mother in law told me about all these little bass she kept catching. We went back to the same spot one day and I fished with her. I caught a few chubs before she walked over and the next one I pull out of the water I go "Dang it, another chub."

She goes "That's not a bass?"
I had to stop myself from falling on the ground laughing and nearly peeing myself. She was pretty insulted.

So the next one I catch looks a bit different and has a more solid black strip and she goes "There's no way that's a chub too!"...

So yeah. I had to explain to her that the fish her and her friend were catching all day last time were all a bunch of big creek chubs.

His name is Chubby.

You can also see the reflection of my Longear Sunfish.

This is their temporary home till we move then I will either have them a 55 or 90 gal setup then possibly add another Chub and Sunfish or ??????

That might be a pumpkinseed back there.

That might be a pumpkinseed back there.

He looks to be a cross, he has the 'Long Ear' but a Pumpkin Seedish coloring.

Either way his name is Sunny

Mine eats about 1/2 a night crawler at a time, or Wardley goldfish flakes.
