Oliver Lucanus of Below Water has imported them. If memory serves me correctly he told me they come from a remote part of Brasil so they are a pain to get a hold of and ship.

I would love to have one of those!!!! However I don't order fish online, and I won't pay more than 40 for a fish... so I guess I am out of luck....

These are definitely a gorgeous pike and I would definitely spend any extra cash that I have to get them.

They aren't cheap, Oliver was selling them for quite a good amount. About the same price as Crenicichla tigrina...so yeah, expect to really dish it out if you get them. They are definately one of the coolest pikes available. Not many species have such remarkable differences in male/female coloration...

It is a gorgeous fish, one of the large lugubris group pikes. I had a chance to get some about 2 years ago and passed because they were 8" and mud brown. At the time there were no other pics online so rather than spend the $100 I passed. What an idiot! In any case, they seem to come in from time to time but are not a regualr import. I suspect now that this picture has been posted they will be in high demand and will start to filter into the hobby a little more frequently.
