DIY 480G Glass Tank, Stand, sump, canopy and 3D background

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It weights a lot, it took 8 people to move it in my room and also 8 people barely managed to lift the glass tank from the floor and place it on the stand.

My immediate stock would be 2 motoros at 12 and 14 inch disk, 2 tinfoil barbs at 12 each, 2 archers at 5, and a silver at 5 inches, one synodontis euptera at 4, while i am planning to add a couple more stingrays BD if i get hold of them, and one asian aro.

I have to run heaters for 5 months in a year, and fans for cooling for about a month or 2.

Thanks guys
Dan F, i am working on the background, i am using styrofoam and will scratch it to shape and design then will paint it with white cement mixed with some colour, once complete the whole thing will be coated with epoxy resin and glued using solicon to the back.

Very nice, this is one of the coolest builds I've seen in a while.

By the way, you are the first MFKer from Pakistan I've seen, how is the fish-keeping scene there? Are you Pakistani or just living there?

Thanks, good to hear such nice comments.

well the fish keeping scene still needs some improvements, most of the importers and retailers only keep less expensive fish as they are in demand, hence most imports are common fish available easily while there are a few who dare to import the odd good expensive pieces every now and then, currently i am pushing a few people to import asian red arowana, since its too expensive no one has commited to me yet but i will keep on pushing till i get one :),

Same is with equipment, we dont find American or german or any high end brands but mostly chinese, on the positive side though everything is rather cheap for the hobbyist.

Yes i am a Pakistani.

Nice build! You could easily park a bus on that stand! The glass is 12 mm? From the pic it looks thinner. Optical illusion?

That is really interesting. What does Pakistan have to offer in the way of natives? Any snakehead species? Catfish?

I only asked if you are Pakistani because your English is better than most Native speakers.... ;)

i try not to make too many mistakes ;)

here is a link to all the available species from Pakistan, there are some snakeheads and catfish available but unfortunately not all of them have pictures.

http://www.fishbase.org/Country/Cou...e=586&csub_code=&sortby=alpha2&vhabitat=fresh

and another link, you can find 4 species of snakeheads

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fish_in_Pakistan

do you want me to export some to you :)

i guess most of the fish are common to the indo-pak sub continent, while there are some endemic species.

Great looking build so far. I'm anxious to see the finished product.
