DIY growout tanks for indoor pond.

i like.. i use these to keep larger turtles :)

i would cover those tubs most of the time to keep down on evapration

Looks good.. Ever thought of plumbing some togethor, possibly with a sump.. You could elevate a 3rd rubbermaid over the top of those 2, and basically turn it into a giant 'Hang on back filter'.. I know a few members here who have some pretty nice tub systems.

My first system was rubbermaids when glass kept breaking when I drilled it. 10 30g with (2 50g and a 30g all rubermaids sump) easy to drill and cheap... it's not a bad idea. remember that they don't keep heat well though (my basement was prime winter and I lost a lot of $$ heating because of it.)

great ideas guys thanks. I am going to work on upgrading them next paycheck. Also getting my supplies for the pond. I have a few filtration ideas. Most thanks to the memebers of this site.

what species are you planning on growing out?

right now they are going to serve as temporary lodging for some hybrids until the pond is ready. I plan on growing out a sorubimicthys planiceps for my pond. That would be the next species that I will get. After that I don't know. As I have said in another thread my goal is to eventually keep one of each species of the pims. For now while here in my appartment my landlord will only let me keep a 6ft dia. pond. I am looking for a new place to live with a garage so that I can upgrade that also to maybe a 10 or 12ft pond for my catfish.

Nice setups, one comment though--it looks like you have duettos in therer for filtration? If so, be warned that they may be the most ineffective internal filter ever invented. I have one that clogs weekly in a feeder guppy tank, just as a backup. If you plan on any decent-sized catfish, I'd try and get either fluval's internal filter or two aquaclear powerheads and attach quickfilters to them. IMO, the duettos aren't worth the price of the box they came in. Just my 2 cents.

i like your setup i got a 20 gal tub to grow out a jardin and 3x tinfoils if the jar is ot agressive tho the tins will go to a 30 regular tank
