I just picked up a dojo loach for my son. Its about 6'' at the moment, how big is this guy going to get? What are the water params? What does it need to eat? My lfs said it will be fine on normal flake food.

Ammonia and nitrite should still remain zero with nitrates no more than 20. That's the norm applicable for all fish. pH is nothing to be concerned of. Weather loaches are not fussy with foods. They will eat anything. Keep them at a temperature range of 20-26 degrees Celsius. There is a conversion table at the MFK menu bar if you want to know the Fahrenheit. They grow to 8-10 inches usually but that depends on how you accommodate your fish. A 30g is the recommended minimum for one.

I had one that was pushing the upper limit of that size range. Not sure what Lupin is talking about with this Celsius nonsense :D but here in America the max temp is 78 degrees F. I would recommend keeping it well below that number. They have not done well for me at tropical temps.

68-79 degrees Fahrenheit, Wurm.

Can I also get the temperature in degrees Kelvin? :D

266-270 degrees Kelvin. You're making fun of me, Wurm.:p

I wouldn't do that. But I think you need to bump that up. You just froze his dojo loach! 70 deg F is 294 deg K. Which is about where I would keep a dojo loach. Or at 529 deg Rankine. Whatever you like. You're a good sport, mate!

Oh, I just stuck the tab Fahrenheit to Kelvin, my bad. Thanks for the correction.

293-299 degrees Kelvin for 20-26 degrees Celsius. There ya go.

lol Well from all I know they get ten inches, they will eat flakes, but I recommend shrimp pellets, my little five incher can't get enough of them. Mine does fine even on the higher end of tropical temps, guess it all comes down to how accurate the heater setting is, as well as the thermometer? Either way, keep 'im in a big tank, like others said before me, 30g bare min. I'd recommend 55g+ so he has lots of room.... double the size for a tankmate is what I'd do, everyone needs their space :3 Just depends on their personalities though I suppose. Good luck, I've always kept mine at 78F even and nothings gone wrong.
