weird, i have fed many spiders to my fish and have never ever had any problems at all. maybe ive been lucky but over the years i have sacrificed many a spider to the fish tank....I HATE SPIDERS

I did as well, but when I got a mantis I just felt better feeding spiders to my mantis. My friend fed his fish spiders even black windows for a while, and nothing happened. Then one time a simple garden spider killed his Dempsey. I still feed the slugs though.

i feed daddy long leg spiders to my fish all the time. i agree on them being the most venomous and having too small of teeth. i ate one for cryin out loud and it didnt faze me either. maybe it had to do with some form of insecticide or maybe it WAS the spider after all. who really knows. i feed my fish all sorts of odd bugs i catch around my house and havent had a problem. i have also seen fish eat bees...just my 2 cents

If you think about it long enough, I'm pretty damn sure every now n then a spider will fall off in a body of water in the wild and will be grabbed up by some eager little fish. I do not think I'm stupid for feeding it to my fish, spiders would or should be considered a natural prey item.

If you feed them and they have no problem, then go for it! I think that is awesome, IF I could I'd feed every little crawley thing I could to them. I even fed some adult O's some baby mice we found out in the barn! That was cool!

Like I said it was just a little o bitty Texas spider, it shouldn't have been a problem!

one time I found a small spider and fed it to my arowana. Then I checked online and read a story similiar to this one, luckily my arowana was okay

I won't feed any wild iinsects to my fish or reptiles to many pollutants they can acually build up in an insects system although it may not kill the insect it could to a fish thats lived in a pollutant free tank.

dont some tarantula flick their hairs as a way of defense which itch like hell and cause a rash if they get you??
maybe these hairs caused youre fishes demise?

To my knowledge done of my fish have eaten a spider by my oscars have eaten wasps, normally the wasp will find it's way into the fish tank and they have never been stung. The spider would not hurt the fish unless it bit the fish, I think it most cases it does not but in your case he may have biten the fish.
