Still, I had to dress the hole with a Dremmel tool...

And the final product:

just curious as to were you bought that fancy bulkhead? and also like to say great DIY on hole drilling.

Mark,

The aqua blue bulkhead fittings are from Pentair Rainbow Lifeguard. I bought them from a dealer on eBay but I can't recommend him since he screwed me over.

Drilling with a dremel takes a lot longer & is a major PITA. But I believe it to be a much safer method then using a large diamond tipped hole saw. As the OP showed, he cracked a tank. I've never had a problem with the dremel method. Good things to those who wait.

That said... I'd joyously pay someone $50 to cut the holes for me, just to save me the time. I hate doing it.

I'm not crazy about using a dremmel to do it either. The big problem with using a dremel is that it is easy to heat stress the glass with it. After it is heat stressed, it can crack on you later for no apparent reason. I'll take a diamond bit any day.

I thought about practice drilling in some of my old small tanks, but haven't got around to it yet.

drilling my 33 gallon as soon as my bits come in. my glass dealer want 's 35.00 a hole and if they break it im out 70.00 and a tank i break i cry they break they don't buy.

hopefully i have the conversions correct 1'' bulkhead( inside diametere ?) 3'' hole 48 mm the bulkheads for 1 '' pvc am i correct i have those.

also 1 1/2 bulkhead( inside diametere ?) hole 2 1/2 '' 65mm for( bulkhead to fit 1 1/2'' pvc ?)

if i am mistaken could you tell me why the holes are so large i think i have it or do i need new bulkheads and pvc (hope not) i have puchased the bits and am waiting unpatiently.
