I would like to know if there are any dwarf or small (by arowana terms) versions of the larger aros and what sizes these grow to.

I am looking for an aro that grows to around 14" 16" if possible but any other results will help alot, i believe this should help alot of newcomers looking to buy arowanas but do not know of their common sizes.

Many newcomers do not realise the size and care that the arowana needs and simply do not know what theyre getting into when they buy these fish. Any other valuable information regarding the arowana species (temperment, sizes etc.) will not only help me but again other people who have aros but still dont quite know what they've really got.:(

All answers will be appreciated,
Thanks, Danny

Im afraid there are no dwarf arowanas that I personally know of unless you want want to cound short body arowanas which arent even that small... :(

thanks, and what size does that type of aro grow to?

Basically the same size I think..Maybe an inch or two smaller but they are really rare.

thanks for your help any other info will be appreciated

If you wanted to count the african butterflyfish as an arowana it grows to 4'' and looks quite a bit like an arowana.

Have you read the stickys? Lots of information there.

I have read the stickys im just trying to find out any other important info about the fish.

i have seen the african butterfly fish and i can see where your coming from but all the same it isnt an arowana.

thanks for your help so far but what is the smallest type of arowana?

the jardini is the smallest i know of. still get around 24". slightly more aggresive then a silver which can get up to 36" . asians are smaller then the silvers also but hard to get and expensive.

true about the size, however i have heard that jardini need a larger aquarium than silvers or blacks because they are not as flexible as the blacks/silvers.
