epsom salt in-bucket bath dose?

You should keep a few basics things "just In case" API General Cure (a couple of boxes) some Kanamycin and Furan 2 would be good to have in an emergancy. I know you can't have everything but that covers a lot of issues and Kana & furan 2 can be combined for a powerful one, two punch should columnarus ever rear it ugly head.

I never tried to asperate a fish before I never had to but would if the situation ever came up.

That was a very nice offer Conway....you're a good guy.
Yeah, I'm gonna break down and get a few things on hand, Tom. you recommend any other essentials?

do you guys think the fish showing pine cone scales means incurable internal organ damage already? I'd hate to keep tormenting her if that's what it means.

Aww, that's too kind of you.
I can afford meds when needed, it's just that sending for an assortment with no illness seems like a big wad.
uh huh, I tend to run last minute. DUMB.

Ohh no worries. I just know for your situation it may be a little harder to come by some of those due to location not dollars. Figured if I could help id be glad to offer. Ive got a pretty good assortment of the main stuff. All the stuff Tom's mentioning. API General Cure (with my friends luck and I keep 3 boxes) Kanamycin, Furan 2. Metro and Prazi. As well as Minocycline, Triple sulfa and the usual stuff for ich/velvet and some Meth blue for baths. Even have a lil Fenbendazol and some Levimosal. Funny thing is I rarely have fish with many issues. Other then some internal parasites with new fish. But who doesnt. Again the offer still stands if I can help more then glad to.

I dont think so. Ive seen some fish with that issue and go on to live long happy lives after being cured.

you're a regular pharmacy!

I agree the fish can be cured provided it's not renal failure but It's most likly bacterial. I was going to suggest Meth blue and some fungus cure to go along with what I mentioned above. This should cover the most common things. You already have salt and epsome salt peroxide and iodine for wounds etc so that's about it.

she swam more out to the open end of the tank (away from the shaded end) to hang out right next to the bubbler.
and has passed something about .5 cm, no feces. it's colored like pale yellow pus. but looking at it magnified in a cup of water, looks like a pinched off bulb of intestinal tissue.
now she is waving her pec fins around more by the bubbler, as if trying to get things moving.
(am I projecting my thoughts on fish? lol.) she might feel like crapping if oral epsom salts are kicking in.
I also put Tylosin powder in the last dose, which I have for a dog. it is gastrointestinal antibacterial including anti-inflammatory action. not the best for gram negative, but worth trying. ?
actually a livestock drug :-] not risky for overdosing, though.

passing ANYthing is good at this point. the area around her butt has been looking bulgy/fat.

Most likly the mucosa lineing of the insetinal wall. Tylosin is pirmarly gram positive it is effective against a narrow range of gram negative bacteria. It's a growthe promoter so you might end up with a giant Geo. Have you used regular salt to help with her osmotic regulation?

Agree with Tom on the mucus lining. As well as your current antibiotics. A gram negative antibody would be much more effective wiyh the bacterial issues your having. Its very uncommon for gram positive bacterial issues for most any bacterial concerns.

I'd keep up the oral dosages of Epsom salt.

I think you should take it all positive right now.

dang, I couldn't get the gram neg meds today :-( just hoped anti-inflammatory gut action of Tylosin might help.
didn't know it promoted growth. she's already big bodied. If she survives I'll measure for a reference point. (but doubt she will)
I got some tabs of General cure, couldn't get plain metro.
should I try it? have to administer orally.

how much regular salt per gallon now?

she's getting downright cooperative about me holding/dosing/placing her back in tank by hand, although she still swims around QT. she usually spazzes bigtime @netting.

double-checking if 1 tsp regular salt per 5 gall tank water is correct. that's what I have in there.
