Nice setup

Thanks ^^ Have to solve the water coloration thing though

nice i like the roof you have ovet the tank too, nice.

^^ Hehehehehe back in Laos, need a roof otherwise the water really goes green because of direct sunlight - green algae (in my case, the water coloration is may be due to food change - it is just cloudy and not green). As for the roof itself, i ordered it made curvy (very Lao)

That is awsome!
how big is that tank?? and how do you filter it?

Cheers. The aquarium is 3x2x1.5m (LxWxH). I use a seperate sump (gravity fed from the main tank) which is divided into mechanical (white cloth thingy) and biological filter (spiky balls?), the water is pumped out with two submersible pumps ... i had overflows due to blockage of gravity fed pipe by escaping feeders ^^ hence the switch to pellets which changed my water color ... when i fed them live food never had problems with water color. I will post some more pictures of the overall set-up when the water clears up

Thanks

is the last picture feeders?

Yep. Feeders. In this case, snakeheads (5"-6") juveniles. I also use walking catfish and eels (though eels are defintely out of fashion in the outdoor set-up cause they tend to block the filter system). The main staple food are catfish pellets (which i think make the water cloudy) ...

can you take close ups? Id like to get a better look. Nice fish!!

I will try to take close up pics once the water clears up a bit.... in any case, i am very bad with my camera. When i try to take close-ups all i get is my own reflection. You can see from the pictures i took that there is alot of outdoor reflection rather than the tank content (still figuring out what i am doing wrong)

No, i do not use heater seeing that it is warm .... most of the year ^^ In dry season (October to March), it can be quite chilly. During this time, a heater is a must for juvenile tropical fish, i learnt the hard way when i lost 5 juvenile arapaimas this February (the temperature dropped and stayed at 16 degree Celcius for a week). Most people do not use heaters here for cold (only for disease treatment) - my neighbours outdoor tiled pond with massive paimas do not use heater (and they are fine for many years). I do not use heater for mine and RTCs are fine.... they just get less active in cool weather. All silver aro owners also do not use heaters, just feed them less in "winter".

wow, very nice setup,
can you send more pics and more infos about the construction and filtration for that pond ???
I'm plannin to do something like that and your pond really inspire me.

BTW, uf you can get some pics of your neighbors pimas, I'll really apreciate it

Refer to thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2117766#post2117766 for neighbour's 5 gigantic paimas.

I will see if i can find more pics with filtration. Anyway, i will send you the sketch in this evening (my time)

By the way, i suggest you check this link by johnptc http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48640&page=26 basically, structurally mine is similar to his (not as much rebars in the structure seeing that i am not in earthquake zone like him in Calinfornia). For filtration info, contact him directly (i will contact him to get some ideas on filtation set-up ...tweak the current one, and start a new one !!!!)

Thanks ctoychik.
I just read your thread, and from johnptc I've already read it before. Sure I'm gonna ask him a lot of stuff when I start to build my tank.
They're in an temporaly pool of 1000 L. The monsters in my signature.
Try to teach them to feed pellets, but they prefer feeders much more.
Thank you again, and I hope to count with your help in the future.
BTW, you got a gigas too right ?? have any pic of it ??
