Thanks ctoychik.
I just read your thread, and from johnptc I've already read it before. Sure I'm gonna ask him a lot of stuff when I start to build my tank.
They're in an temporaly pool of 1000 L. The monsters in my signature.
Try to teach them to feed pellets, but they prefer feeders much more.
Thank you again, and I hope to count with your help in the future.
BTW, you got a gigas too right ?? have any pic of it ??

Yes, i had two gigas (one was eaten by RTC) refer to thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161954 so after i moved the remaining one back inside, i bought two more see the pic (sorry, someone forgot to close curtain so the water is colored).

I have to try to move the big one outside now again (cos it has outgrown my 2x0.6m aquarium ... it about 65cm now and has difficulty turning) BUT i am constructing a separator (i am not taking any chances no more) while waiting for a second outdoor set-up (who knows it may not be necessary)

Do you have a algae problem with all the natural sunlight

Oh God! Yes! well at least up until recently ... still contemplating the solution - will start with a wet/dry filter (overhead) ....
PS: no algae problem in dry season because of the temp is lower

Well, check out the photos of me RTCs and gars ...<sigh> .... still a lousy shot but it shows RTC's nice color fins (note the redness! ^^). I am working on plants <finally found and decided on types> to put in now (should be placing them over the weekend).... anything to act as additional bio filter ^^

Note that one of the RTCs slightly deformed: missing three bottom whiskers and a pre-existing gill curl (at least thats what i think it is although you can not see gill themselves since the 'plate" closes in completely and tightly) - always inspect the fish on buy (i got the second for a bargain price but i did not bother to ask why)

Finally, for reference points: the tile length is 40cm (16")

PS: sorry for the sloppy clean-up of the glass, but the magnet thing does not take out those algae spots at the bottom (deep down) very well. I am still looking for a bigger magnet eheheheh (that means shopping). I am rather anxious whenever i dip my whole arm into the pond seeing that gars start circling me lol ^^ When i manage to bring the water to crystal clear then i will post again ^^ don't worry the fishes are happy and eternally hungry - yes, i do weekly water changes

Just thought i couple of lousy shots of the gars would be nice.

PS: by the way, i am adopting one of my friends gars because he can not house it proper heheheh a free grown-up aligator for me ... should be picking him up this weekend ^^ will keep updated

damn, sorry for that man.
my arapaimas are bigger than the rtc, so, at least now, I shouldn't get worried.
they get along fine.
And nice pimas you got there, such amazing fishes.
your gars look very nice too. I think of get one someday, but not for now.

I assume by 'O' you mean oscar. Oscar is 8"-9". He is not growing no more. I had it for 6-7 years now ... one of my original mosterfish ever. The surviving member of the original 5 (he was the smallest of them all). I lost the others when they were in 15- gallon and there was a power failure for long time. I will be getting more oscars soon. The priority now is my plant planting project for the outdoor set-up. GOt the plants but not the time yet ^^

I don't think oscar will be eaten ... cos RTC woulda eaten it by now. It would fit in its mouth.... and RTCs have grown-up with this oscar since they were 4" ... oscar did not eat them - may be it is a live and let live.

The biggest paima have been moved now. There is a separator ...so that the paima can grown somemore before unleashing it on RTCs hehehehe paima is not very happy right now cos the outdoor tank does not use any salt while i add some salt into the indoor set-ups...i hope it is OK. I suppose moving it traumatize it alittle. I will get the pics next week + the plants.

Soon, i will be back for a weekend of scrubbing my tank (this one in particular) as well as planting plants to act as bio filters ^^ meanwhile, please excuse the stubborn algae stains
