i like your sketches
Haha, proving you don't need to remember drafting to do engineering :p. I was actually pretty pleased with them till I took photos of them. Something about them is not very photogenic ;)

Nice tanks! As far as the sketches go they look fine. Grab some colored pencils and get artistic! :D LOL I like you cat in the 1st sketch! is that your TSN?
Yeah, I got a little childish with the whole thing. That's supposed to be him in a year or so. I really don't know what else I'm gonna put in there with him yet. Everything I like tends to eat everything else, o rwould be cat food in short order :p... RTC, RTCxTSN, Marble Motoro, H. Wyckii, blah blah blah.

after fiberglassing with polyester resin are you gonna apply a gel coat or flow coat
Going to sand the fiberglass seams, smooth out any transitions with filler, and then spray some gelcoat. I need to do some reasearch on whether it's chemically different than regular gelcoat, but I'd like to use tooling gelcoat, just because it's so slick to work with and gives a real nice finish when sprayed... and I can readily get it in jet black.

Alright, so like... I'm a tool. I bought the wood today and started putting it all together, but guess where my flashless camera is? Yeah at work. Sorry guys.

The text update (BOORING)
Went to HD, had them cut my panels to size. Noteworthy here is that the numbnuts operating the panel saw cut at least one side to the wrong size. Luckily he cut it too BIG, so I could trim it down. Also noteworthy was the brand new lumber cashier with the English problem, who charged me $22 apiece for the G1S panels instead of $49, so I saved $60 on the build.

Material costs so far:
Plywood, some bracing, and the 45 degree filler moldings for the corners, along with 500 2.5" decking screws: $148.

Construction so far:
I screwed the back to the bottom, then screwed on the two end panels. I trimmed all the panels to exact size with my router and a 1/2" flush trim bit. I also got started mitering in the bracing around the top made from 2x3's forming a frame around the top of the tank. I decided to leave the front off the tank for now for a couple reasons: 1) it's way easier to access the interior of the tank for putting in all the rest of the moldings and crap if I don't have to step over the front constantly. 2) the front is the G1S material, and I don't want to damage it during the laborious hoisting of this thing around my garage. Once I have everything done that can be done without the front installed, I will screw it on, brace it, fiberglass it, then cut out the viewing area.

Giigity Giggity Goo.
