very interesting thread, I always thought flywood tank build with fiberglass until I came across this. So you mind I ask a few question for my future tank as well. How is this rubber works with algea? can we clean it just like we clean the glass? and how is seal with the bulk head? about color, is there different color for this rubber? btw I am from BC and there is no liquidrubber store here so can I order it online or you know the website I can order it from?

I have not had a chance to see how it will react with or support alot of algae growth, buut from the feel of the cuered rubber, it can be cleaned with the same things glass is. i will be using a sponge to do it.
It will seal just about anything, so a bulkhead wont be an issue at all. I may be using bulk head on this build as well if i can find one or make one that will fit on 3/4inch plywood. I plan to install it like i would glass, then sela around the base of the bulkhead.
It comes in multiple colours, from brown to black, even blue.
Contact liquid rubber directly and see if the have any third party distributors in your area. Thats what i did. Liquid rubber is based in ontario, and im in nova scotia, so if i can get it here, you shouldnt have an issue.

I should add that i will doing the fifth coat of rubber today, which will use up the last gallon, i may even have a bit left out of it. so it looks like 1 gallon will coat around 36 square feet 5 times with a sponge brush. which is WAY more than i had thought i could do with one gallon. Im not sure how to measure how many mils each coat is, does anybody else know?

UPDATE:

So this weekend, i was only able to do the fifth coat. one more gallon to go!

I did the stands frame today, but thats as far as i got.

I used 15 2x4's for the stand and close to 200 screws.

I put the tank on the stand as well to make sure it was to my likings. i still have to lay 3/4 plywood between the tank and stand befor i wrap the stand.

Looks great. Tank builds tend to take on a life of their own. There's always more to do to it than you origionally set out to do!
