would it be safe to line a 5 gallon bucket with a black garbage bag because the person I'm selling the fish to, doesnt have a bucket we can swap?
are there small particles in the bag that would be harmful?

no i have done this before to keep from the water sloshing out and getting all over the car but i wouldnt trust just the bag alone with anything over 2 gallons of water

I'm sure a heavy duty garbage bag can support less than 5 gallons of water's weight for a bit. I was just concerned about any particles or stray material that could be in the bag

Your best off with large freezer bags if the fish aren't to big. personally i wouldn't use anything thats not OK for storing food, 'nore contains any "odor blockers" ect .

ive used a heavy duty black trash bag before it was fine just make sure theres nothing that could puncture or rip the bag. i had about 3 gallons of water in just the bag no bucket or box for a 30 minute drive one way. worked out fine for me. imo its better to line it with black trash bag keep it dark. less stress on the fish.

Heavy duty garbage bag is good for transport fish

garbage bags are not designed to hold water.
Say who? :screwy:

That's correct!

^lol x2 says who? awhile back i helped a friend transport a 26" silver aro from the lfs to his house with a black trash bag, it wasnt even the heavy duty one... lol

My buddy transported a big fish in a trash bag and the fish died. There are chemicals in the trash bag to reduce the smell of garbage. The chemicals killed his fish. This was when I was still living in the states, before I moved to Taiwan. Just a word of caution.
