Fish tank water turned dark purple

+1, while I'm thinking its a detection dye or chemical, better safe than sorry with that several notes worth of loaches and scats in the tank.

So I did a 60% water change yesterday afternoon and then this morning water was dark purple. No idea what would do it. Only used salt and seachem safe. Anyone ever hear of this???

Hopefully its harmless to the fish. Perhaps carbon or Purigen will get rid of the coloring.

I might be inclined to change a significant portion of the water again right away...especially if the cause of the discoloration is unidentifiable! And definitely call the water company to see what's up.

Nothing to do with lighting cause my toilet is dark purple from the water change lol

if it's brown let it mellow....sometimes it crests the rim of the toilet and you have to stand on the seat to go
