FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In the range you are looking at, honestly there is nothing more then junk.

You MIGHT get lucky and can find a decent Keltec PF9 for the upper end of your price. If you can stretch it to the $350 you can buy a new one. The PF9s are great for what you are looking for. Cheap, reliable, excellent customer service, will hold up to the elements, small enough to put in your tackle box but big enough to fight with.

For about $250 try and find a CZ-82. These are GREAT military pistols. Again they are small enough to carry in a tackle bag but big enough to fight with. They have a double stack bag for greater capacity, polygonal rifling for greater accuracy and are DA/SA. The only downside is that they shoot 9x18 which you wouldnt find at Wal-mart nor at most of your big box sporting goods stores. For the money this choice is your best bet but it may take a little looking to find locally and your best bet to find one would be at a gun show.

But remember, your best tool for self defense is situational awareness and the ability to de-escalate a situation. Having a gun isnt to deter some one from committing a crime. NEVER indicate you have a gun nor pull it unless you are going to use it. I carry daily and its much easier to let some one else be an ass and look like a pussy and leave then it is to start sh t and end up having to shoot some one. If my gun comes out of its holster it is being fired immediately.

thanks for the info. After a bit more reading, I think I would be willing to go up to around $350 for the right one. That seems to open a lot more options. I really hope to never need it, but I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

It looks like the PF9 retails around $250. Sounds like it might be a good option, lightweight and highly concealable. When I get money from a job I just finished up, I'm gonna go to a few shops and see what I really like.

Do you guys have so much trouble when you fish at night that you need guns?
Thats something you wil never read on a European Fishing Forum.

Well in the US we have a small segment of the population that somehow manages to represent the vast majority of the population of prisons across the country. I imagine that in The Netherlands and really in all of Europe this group of people are not as common.

Jworth I understand where you are coming from. Most of my fishing is done by myself. I'm not sure how you feel about being out alone in Indi but here in Cali I dont feel too safe quite often during the day. Carrying a firearm can save your life however the bad thing is when its used for its intended purpose it will take one. Besafe when out on/at the water like JD said "your best tool for self defense is situational awareness and the ability to de-escalate a situation" however its not always very easy when people have bad intentions. Check out this site they have large selection at usually better prices. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php

most of my fishing is done at night by myself ;) I've never run into a situation where I would have needed it but I have been in situations that made me nervous with people and animals.

going to be in the 70's all week with quite a bit of rain in the forecast. May just be the push I need to get my little river flatty spot going. I'm going to try after this heavy rain goes through in the next week or 2. I'll leave the bigger rivers to warm up a bit more.

I know the US is not as safe as Europe and that your prisons are always overloaded, but when you are fishing youre ussually out in the wild right?
It's not like your fishing in a ghetto or something.
When I'll go out nightfishing by myself in the wild I never see anyone, let alone someone how is out robbing/hurting me.

biggest reason our prisons are overloaded are BS non-violent drug charges that cost the common man tons in taxes. but you have to be careful mostly around parking lots and boat launches before daylight and at night, they've become easy targets for those who would rather take from others than try to do things the right way.

my buddy went fishing today and i couldnt go because of class and work... he caught a 25" bass on his 2nd cast..... this is why i drink :(
