FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hit the beach yesterday and today.

The "seaweed" was bad both days but yesterday being overcast was the better of the two days. I put a nice pomp, redfish, a GIANT whiting and a nice redfish in the cooler. I threw back a bout a half dozen bluefish I caught, yuck, you yankees can keep them.

Today I met some family members out on the beach mostly to socialize but I of course brought my rods.

I had a big bull red on and fought him for a while but while trying to surf him in on a wave to beach him, he came unbuttoned which sent me flying backwards in the sand. Other then that fish and a lower slot redfish it was dead today.

Tomorrow Im heading out deep offshore on my buddies big boat. Original plan was to do an overnight trip at the oil rigs for yellow fin tuna which is about a hundred miles offshore but no one could come up with the couple hundred bucks a piece for gas on such short notice. Instead we are going to head about forty miles out of Destin pass. Our main goal will be jigging up some big AJs and then perhaps if we find a line or rip troll for wahoo and black fin tuna. If no luck there and because the first boat cobia was caught in Destin today we may run the beach looking for cobia from the tower. Im pumped and cant wait. I already know Im going to be SORE from fighting fish tomorrow.

hope you kill em tomorrow bud!

i caught the skunk, dude i was fishin with caught 3 crappie, real slow couple hours, couple small hits but nothing worth catching

You don't know what you are missing with the blues. Once you bleed them they make great table fare. A good recipe is to put some mayo and mustard on them and grill them. Also if you dont want to eat them they make great sharkbait/ cut bait.

blah... mayo and mustard >______< can't stand either.. blues under about the 5lb mark fillet up pretty good and come out well blackened, but if i lived in florida i would be using them for nothing more than bait, way too many better species in abundance down there to bother with em unless thats all u catch!

You know when you are camping and all the reds you caught that day were over slot, and the other fish you caught were either bait or blues. A bluefish is a damn good meal.

big blues need too much preparation but i'll eat the dinky ones all day, easy to fillet and fry quickly. that being said i'd gladly take most other saltwater fish over them any day of the week

2nd skunk in a row trying out a new lake.. im startin to stink! missed 4 bites on the senko, 2 i think were too small to get hooked, one caught me by surprise and the last one i felt the fish pick it up and didn't give it enough time to get it swallowed. urgh. did see a friggin 5lb+ toad sunning, spent about 3 minutes getting in position, got the senko in the water, twitched it, fish started swimmin towards it and this little kid threw a rock in the water right by my line.... uhg

Went out with my new boat today, missed 2 medium sized pike's.
It's really frustrating but I am so excited when I hook the fish that I am not focused on the drill anymore.
My friend however is a lucky son of a B*. He caught a 17' almost 4pound Perch!
Will upload the pics as soon as I got it,but it was absolutely enormous.

It's easy to miss fish when you get real excited, Ive done that myself on occasion especially if I haven't caught one in a while.
