FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

went to bond lake all day today in cary, fishin was fairly slow at first my buddy caught 2 nice 1lb+ crappie and we hooked up with some small cats, i caught a 20+lb snapping turtle and we continued with the small cats. all of a sudden my rod went off and almost pulled in to the water. got the hook set and line started screaming off. I knew it was a big cat possibly the biggest i've had on the end of my line. I fought the beast for at least 10 minutes of cranking and drag runs and had it maybe 10 yards from shore... as it came to the top it wrapped up with a log, my leader frayed and the monster got off. all i saw was the monstrous tail... it was bare minimum 12lb channel cat, could have been larger. my PB to date is 8lb, i was crushed. A while later my buddy landed a nice 8# and we caught another few little guys. we went and got lunch and went back to a new spot and straight killed em. rods were going off one way and another. he caught a nice 6.5 and then a nice 4 and we kept having good bites. i caught some more dinks and then hooked up with a decent little 2lb and my other rod went off HARD, got it to the bank it was a solid 5# cat. we had a heck of a day landing a combined 18 cats and 22 total fish with many more cats missed or didn't take the bait fully. ended u with 1 monster snapper at 20lb, a smaller around 10lb, and another mud turtle. good day on the water worn out

You got pics of that snapping turtle?
The wildlife in Holland sucks compared to what you guys have in the US.
The only reptiles I have encountered during fishing are red-florida turtles(exotic) and a dead aligator(made the newspaper).

Dude! Fishing doesn't get better than in Holland ;)
 
i did have a pic of the snapper but i had to delete it, my phone memory filled up right before my buddy caught his big cat :| - i'm sure i'll catch more bigguns out there though there are some HUGE ones in there we saw ill try to make sure i get a pic for ya

Im glad some of yall have been doing well. My offshore trip Thursday was a trip from hell. I mean it sucked ass big time. I dont want to rant about it but it was just one of those trips where just everything that could possibly go wrong did. And to top it off I didnt put any fish in the box. I did fight a monster of an AJ for over ten minutes only to have the 8/0 hook straighten out.

Over the weekend we had beautiful flat calm seas and I took the kayak out to look for ling but I didnt see any. They should be here in good numbers any day now but its rare to get seas like it was over the weekend this time of the year.

Sunday I took my little girl out to sand island to enjoy the nice weather.
