Okay guys...these are crappy, but I am throwing them up here for those of you who were interested in some softies. Sorry for the delay. The internet at home is terrible.

Most of these things need to be fragged yet, and will take at least a week to heal. Then I will ship. (If you guys are ready.) Everything goes with the $5 a frag deal...except for the rodactalus, which we would have to talk about. I can try and frag them, or get smaller ones, these are about the size of dinner plates. I would probably be asking a decent chunk of change for a whole one.

Enjoy the softies guys.

Agreed. I mainly want this so I can sit back, watch my tangs cruise and just enjoy it. It will be nice to see them have more room.

Lights guys...heres the deal. Right now I am thinking that I can spend either $1300 on a LED system...or spend a little over $500 for a 750w MH system (not counting PC atinics). Any thoughts? I would probably save around $600 a year apparently all told.

Heres the MH: I would buy 3x and suspend them above the tank

Heres a link to the thread of the LED system that I would most likely get aside from doing a DIY which seems to be more expensive right now...:

Thanks again guys!

Oh yea...another thing to be noted is that my 125g is of the six foot variety and only has one brace, which is directly in the middle of the tank. So one MH would be suspended above that. Would there be much shadowing? I would feel better about the LEDs here because they wouldnt heat up and possibly damage the structural integrity of the brace.

hmm... brace wouldn't likely shadow to bad if you placed it high enough, at the same time if you placed it high enough it shouldn't get to hot either... but not sure to be honnest... I love the corals! You should get some bright zoas (in my opininon) or some acans as those are to of my favs lol and I think they always look good. As for lighting, I see nothing wrong with the hood... though as for LED I recomend Aqua Illumination, as they are the only ones I've seen that truely say that they are capable of replacing MH lights (though they are extreamly expencive you would need only one though).

The guy who built his own on led fixture on reefcentral posted par meter ratings, and later in the thread, he showed where he was able to bring back grey and damaged acroporas that ended up being purple and blue. They also showed significant growth.

Granted, there are a slew of factors that contribute to a corals health, but that just shows that it can happen with led lighting. If you got the cash, its the way to go.

Oh for sure LED can definatly be good, the only problem is obtaining the correct stuff, I think i actualy found a way to get Aqua Illuminations LED setups for 250$ a piece which is less then DIYing metal halide setups, then all i have to do is add a shroud and heat sink... but im waiting on some info before i can conferm its possiblility.

Throw me the link to the 250 buck setup you are referencing to.

I have done the math and I think I can do a 48 inch wide led system for 500 bucks, thats everything.

well thats the thing. its the "upgrade" they sell for their "old" verison, but it comes with the leds, lenses, and bored, im just not sure if it has the cords/power module required.

though from the pic it looks like it has everything but the cords to connect the leds and the heatsink (big deal i can buy heat sinks cheaply haha).

  • 8 – AI LED Puck Assemblies – 2 Cree XP-G White and 1 Cree XP-E Blue
  • 8 – AI Triple Lens & Splash Guard
  • 1 – AI LED Driver Board
  • 1 – AI AC/DC Power Supply & Cord
  • 2 – Cooling Fans
  • 1 – AI Module Connector End Plate
So it looks like all you would need it some aluminum angle and heat sinks. It says it comes with fans. I dont know if those are prefixed to the board/box combo or it if is separate

I dont know what the spread is on those optics, but they could come back to bite you in the rump. If they are something narrow like 30 degrees, your light spread is going to be awful.

That model of led from cree is awesome.

The power supply looks like (from the pic) that it is something simmilar to what you get when you power a laptop, and if thats true, it should be regulated as well. So there would be no need to buy a buckpuck or a power supply.

Unless the optics have like a seventy degree spread, I dont know if it would be worth it. But if it worked out, bang for the buck is deff there.

Do you have this:
Note: A valid serial number will be required to purchase this upgrade.
