I had a 100 gallon and I did mine with a sump that I built out of a 55 gallon and had a mag rive push the water back up into the tank. and as for the lighting I had one 400 watt MH that was in the center of the tank 20.000 k and one on each side of the tank that were 150 watt MH on each side that were 29,00 K and I had a canopy that they fit in side. I to used a lot of korella power heads. but I used the larger ones at the bottom of the tank for mor circulation in the bottom of the tank for te circulation and ecerything liked it but you have to use the conners of the tank to do that and you should be just fin.

Also looking to buy this biopellet reactor: http://www.avastmarine.com/ssc/do/product/2010-MR-5-18

A calcium reactor will more than likely be added as the colonies are added, and get to be considerable sizes...most likely about a year down the road.

Looking into upgarding skimmers from the ASM if I can sell the ASM. Found a good deal on an AquaC, and I need the (even more) oversized power with the biopellets and heavy stocking.

Seriously looking at that full stock list now you are.......CRAZY!!! haha

You will have your work cut out for you keeping the water quality up for sure. I'm sure you can handle it though. To everyone else.....DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! lol Not many people can do this successfully.

Personally, I think you should keep the ASM and add the Aqua C. Spend all that money you got from the 75g. Out wait you already did on some sick fish. Ha

I dont have any experience with some of those fish so this is truly just a question with no ill intentions, but you think that the lunare wrasse, triggers, and angel can be maintained with corals and shrimp?

As you know I have a 125 reef and would really like a blue throat trigger but will have snails, hermits and shrimp. There is just so much mixed information out there, I just dont know.

I am very interested in this project. Let me know when you get home so I can start thinking about some of those corals.

Wont deny this. :D

Goal is nitrates under 20, then to get it under 10 at all times. Phosphates goal is 0.

Do not try this at home. This tank is overstocked, but I will do massive h2o changes, have a huge sump, lots of macros, and some of the nicesest h2o quality equipment in the industry...or I will within the year.

Fish as they grow, will be rehomed as necessary. I fully expect bids on my angel dustin. :D

I have $180 left over...was going to use this to stock the tank, but now thinking about it, I might use it for the skimmer instead. I can buy corals later...and I can spend money now to get the h2o stable. I wonder if I can fit both in my sump though...probably not.

No. I dont...plain and simple. I have heard accounts of all of my fish being kept in reefs...with differing degrees of sucess. Goal is to feed well and heavily. Some corals might stay, some might go. Same with inverts. Experiment...my ultimate reef is what I am trying to do here.

As you know I have a 125 reef and would really like a blue throat trigger but will have snails, hermits and shrimp. There is just so much mixed information out there, I just dont know.

I would give it a go, blue throats are not only fairly peaceful, but have small mouths that really arent intended for consuming larger invertebrates. Some people, including my brother (thisissimple), have kept them sucessfully in reef tanks.

I will be home wednesday...so start thinking now! :D

He is experimenting with it. Gonna see what they eat and what they don't and go from there. Should be really interesting, I agree. Then he can give us info on what to do for success.

So this past tuesday, I set out at around noon to go and pick up some fish.

The first fish (blue girdled angel and a undulated trigger) got bagged at about 3pm.

I then set out to another LA fish store, conveniently located on the other side of LA.

First I stopped by a friends, he sold me a mag12 for $100 as I needed it to finish this sump project...(Glass is being cut as we speak...some parts are in the mail...some will need to be bought...I am getting so close!)

Then I headed over to Age of Aquariums, one of the best LFS's in the LA area in my mind, after seeing many of them at least once or twice.

There I purchased a purple tang at around 6pm, and had Dan (The owner) rebag all of my fish for the road. He also gave me 3 heat packs for the flight.

Got home, fought with American Airlines over a way to get them back. Finally got them to be shipped, but they had to be in a cooler, and they had to cost me $100 instead of checking it for $25. (I feel like a southwest add should be made about fish.)

At any rate, I woke up the next morning at 6am to take the fish to LAX for their early departure. I got them sent out just in time, and then got on my own plane at 1030. Landed in chicago...was delayed at least 45 minutes by various forms of balonga. I will probably take the train next time.

Got to MKE...and after much hard work and talking to 3 different people, got my box of fish.

Open up the box, everything is ice cold...angelfish is floating on it side at the top of the h2o. I immediately start kicking myself for killing such a beautiful, friendly fish as he was.

Forunatly, once the bag was righted, and I got him up to temperature, he came down, and started swimming around the bag. Left the heat on 80F all the way home for the 2 1/2 hour drive back to central wisco.

Two days later I am now going to try to feed my angel for the first time, he was taking NLS like a piggy in the store, and he is still looking good here at home.

I left the trigger out of the tank, so here are my stocking plans from here on out"

Trigger is out.

Current stocking:

1 harlequin tusk
1 purple tang
1 blue girdled angelfish
1 volitian lionfish

1 blue hippo - to be added

I may add either a blue throat, a niger, or another reef safe trigger later down the road...for now the undulated is staying with a friend.

Seems silly to have spent $20 on a fish, and $33 on shipping him to only give it away after flying it half way across the country...oh well. Didnt think it was worth risking the angel fish on.
