Looks like f3 kamfa to me.Thanks man.
At a guess I would say its ass was all kamfa with the colour and Pearl's, the body shape is ZZ and the head and colour leads me to guess red dragon. But I dont seem to find many online with gill Pearl's so I guess that must be the Kamfa again along with the jaw line and face. I am purely guessing here, as with these fish theres really any certainty with knowing what's in it. It's based only on what I have ready - i might be 100% wrong.
How would you grade him sir?Quite possible it could be a magma, ZZ red dragon crossed with a kamfa. It's still a lil hard to tell 100% with his stress bars showing tho. Those stress bars tend to cover up allot of detail.
I'd have to agree with this. It's probably not a magma but still is a slight possibility. If it is a magma most breeders would've culled it before it got to this size as a form of quality control. More then likely tho it is a red dragon and one that's, I'd say, mid quality. Definitely not the best but still not near the worst either. Still a good looking FH either way tho and has some potential to get better as it matured. Ik it would definitely look better if it wasn't stressed out.Looks like f3 kamfa to me.
Definitions are really muddy when it comes to flowerhorns, this is the best I know.
Kamfas are created by crossing a KML or red dragon or other ZZ with a vieja or parrots, this is called classic kamfa or F1 kamfa (F stands for filial and 1 means one generation from mixing), rarely have pearls, more vieja traits
Then crossing F1 back with KML or red dragon gives F2 (ideal kamfa shape and face, some pearls, nice colors)
Then crossing F2 back with KML or red dragon gives F3 (loose kamfa shape, huge hump, lots of pearls, still retain color and face)
Now magma comes from KML and Kamfa, with most KML/ZZ traits and only kamfa face and pearling. So I doubt yours is a magma.
I'd probably grade it as a B. It's a good looking FH but has a few flaws. Flowerline isn't complete (has gaps), has a slight upwards curve to the flowerline, has a bald spot on the face/kok, pearling doesn't seem to be uniform (certain spots are merging while others are not), pearling looks to be faded on its kok. Granted some of these flaws can be improved over time with proper food and care. How would you grade him sir?
Very crisp/clean color, esp the body. You rarely see the body with no red tint at all on the dragons.I'd give this guy here a A-. He's got some nice color/pearling/finnage and a nice straight flowerline but his main issue is that his color and pearls don't wrap around his face/kok. If they did then I'd probably give him a S ranking. Don't worry tho he'll improve over time with some good food and care, he eventually might even be able to reach a A+ ranking once he's fully grown/groomed. Very nice looking FH ya got there and is something to be proud of.
It was and still is stressed. Someone had owned the fish for a few months paid around $230. Then the tanked cracked. When I got there it had spent 4/5 days in something like a 15/20 gallon plastic tub / laundry basket, with only a heater and airstone - no filter.. he should look worse I guess lol. See what a few weeks does for him.I'd have to agree with this. It's probably not a magma but still is a slight possibility. Hi bro. He is 4.8 inch now. Below are the pictures without & with artifical light of him. What is his grading now? Is there any improvement? Tq ~I'd give this guy here a A-.
