Flowerhorn ID and gender!!!!

I used black sand before and feel with darker substrate/background their colors pop more. Light substrate they still look nice but sometimes colors don't pop or look as dark. I believe they try and adept to their surroundings to hide from bigger predators.

The black gravel should be fine. Personally now all I do is bare bottom tanks. It depends too how nice their colors will be based on diet/genes/clean warm tank. If you feed shrimp or prawns make sure to dice them up really good and not give small chunks because it will cause bloat and can ruin their digestive system. I only give once a week
Yea sure...thanks @PomoFishKeeping

If you got that from a breeder some where in Asia i would say Female as most breeders groom there FHs with mirrors and food to grow there KOK that fish has no KOK
So you mean it's a female and could you let me know how to find the gender at this size? As I heard there would be a black dot on the dorsal fin for females.

I'm not sure if its big enough but the only sure fire way is to vent it take it out of the tank and look at its private parts Male is 2 small holes. Female is 1 small hole and 1 larger hole.
From my experience with breeders they breed and train small FH to get big KOKs as that is a big selling point I'm not saying its 100% female but just giving my 2 cents based on MY experience

Is the green water safe for this size? I see many groomers suggest to grew him up in green water for few days so that it will increase its pearls and coloration. Is that true is it safe to put zhen zhu type in green water?
