At this size I would feed twice a day. Feed less then you are feeding now. Don’t feed for a day and let him empty his stomach, too gauge how much you should be feeding, by the end of the second feeding he should have a slight bulge. Smaller then the bulge in the pics you have. You really have to eyeball it and experiment when it comes to the amount you feed but you already know your feeding too much so just gradually lower amount until you find the sweet spot. And there is no benefit to powerfeeding in longterm or even short term. Potential negatives especially with Flowerhorn out way any positive benefit if there even appears to be any.
Thanks

The size of the kok is all genetic and nothing to do with how much you feed. Those with water kok (most commonly SRD, GB or some malau) will tends to "kok" bigger and at younger stage. Try not to stress the fish, it will shrink its kok. The happier the fish, the faster the kok grows.
I have tried all the 3 pellets which you mention before.
Hikari bio-gold + : High in spirulina (Greed pellet) able to bring out the the fish natural colour and make flowerhorns pearls shinier.

Hikari Red blood parrot (red pellet): contains Astaxanthin that can enhance the fishes colour red.

For the basics, feeding these 2 hikari is more than enough.

I have tried okiko head up or whatever they call it and don't notice any difference in my fish.

If possible, try to finish up all these pellets within 6 months to avoid the pellets turning bad even though it still have not pass its expiry date.
Thanks

Why is okiko bad?
I am not sure about the rest.
I like okiko Platinum, the one with black packaging.
It only cost 70 baht if you can purchase it directly from Thailand.
This pellet is so popular in asia to the extend that it's often sold out.
It's also the only the only fish food that I know of with so many counterfeit version in the market.
Probably those people have gotten the counterfeit version and have made their fish sick.

Actually hikari biogold+ is a really good food and Hikari blood red parrot is pretty good too.
Are you and I looking at the same ingredient list? There is literally no Hikari food out there that I would say is a good food. It's all garbage IMO and not something I would ever feed to my fish.

Ok, rather than just bash on one food, how about you give advice on what food to feed them? The only thing you came in here to say is Hikari is crap, but you don't give any alternatives, which would be appreciated.

I said what I said. Objectively it is decent enough food and it is the best OP is working with and much better then what is often recommended for Flowerhorn food. There are better food’s out there but Hikari isn’t complete garbage. It has its place.

Nah, sorry, IMO Hikari is junk. Better than rock bottom doesn't equal good, not by a long shot ;)

Northfin and NLS are good foods. Bug Bites are an excellent option for non-herbivore fish as well.
