Freeze Dried Krill...Your experience?

Hi All,

I have heard conflicting reports on Freeze Dried Krill. Some say it's a standard in their regimen, others say it's good to feed sparingly, and yet others say to avoid it at all costs. There are even some who have claimed that the shells have punctured the intestines of their fish.

What has been your experience? Almost every fish that I've had absolutely loves it, so I've always had a large can of Tetra around. I will admit, I tend the crush them a bit becaue I'm nervous about the shell thing.

Anyhow, thoughts on freeze-dried Krill?

I feed them to my Datnoid when I have Krill in rotation with other foods.

Today at the LFS they wanted $25.99 for that size of Freeze Dried Krill. I will order online.

Oh yeah, Amazon has great prices on the stuff...I usually get the huge can.

Does your Dat love it? Ever had any issues?

The Dat will eat them for awhile then get tired of eating them then I offer something else lol.
My Dat is quite a character.

I believe this food should be pre-soaked in water from the tank for 5 minutes before feeding. Two reasons I believe in doing this. First it helps to soften the food to make it easier to digest. Second reason is that it allows the krill to expand to its final size before it reaches the fish's stomach or digestion track. I also believe this food should only be used as a treat for most species and not a daily food.
