I have both gator gar and Florida, I think it looks like a Florida gar. but my gator gar is already mature so it may look more like that when its young.

He was sold to me as a Needlenose Gar with a max size of 1.5' but I am beginning to have my doubts. If he is a spotted or long nose like I am suspecting I am going to have to rehome him. I am so sad!

Welcome to MFK I can tell you for sure that is not a needle nose gar. May be a long nose I'll let others chime in.

The so called Needlenose Gar does not look like a gar, and isn't a true gar.

Hujeta gar or rocket pik/rocket characin. Not a true gar. A nice oddball schooling fish for the upper zones.
