Gar Identification - Post your Gar to be ID'd HERE!!

That you so much for giving me a relief as my friend kept saying that it not a real gar for the reason that the spots or the patter does not resembles to any of the hat species.
This gar will turn 1 year old on 22-Mar-2018. Maybe I post his photos again after few more months, then I can have a better understanding of his exact identification.

Post a pic from above to see how wide it’s head/snout is. That’ll help ID the species. It’s 100% a true gar and fortunately for you, not alligator, so it’s managable.

Well it looks a little more narrow than my tropicals. But rest assured it’s a real gar.

What should I feed him, I have live ghost shrimp, live guppies and frozen bloodworms.

All that. And he’ll probably start eating floating pellets, cut fish, shrimp, etc in no time. Hope you have a huge tank or pond for him! He will be 2-3ft in no time.
