I have a 26" hybrid gar I suspect it is a gator x short nose but I am unsure. I have 2 large gators, 2 large short nose. It doesn't have the aggressiveness of a gator, or the jumpiness of a short nose, but is more on par with the personality of my 4 florida gar

The top and bottom pic is confusing to me but 2nd and 3rd pic looks like a Florida Gar because snout looks too narrow to be a Gator. The top and bottom pic looks Gator hybrid but not sure.

Looks gator. Not sure about hybrid. Could have more gator features than short nose. Haven’t seen enough hybrids. It’s not a Florida to me.23AAFD55-9C0B-4757-BFE1-E7955399CFF7.jpeg

where did this fish come from?

On a side note, do you have photos of your shortnose. Those are rarely seen in the hobby. Would love to see them.

It looks to be just a Florida.

Definitely not a Florida the snout is to wide, however when I first got this one and the other one I had (Sold to Blue Zoo Aquarium in OKC along with 19 other monsters), I originally thought they were gator x Florida hybrid but my shortnose gar supplier had said it looked more like a shortnose than florida

I got a pair of them and a 23" RTC x TSN from a local fish hustler and there is no telling where he got them from.

I have had 5 shortnose in the last year and can usually get them most of the year. I am working on getting a seasonal supply of true spotted gar also.

Here are the big guys I currently have

Here are the Florida Gar I currently have including one with a very unique colored pattern on his head

I should have a platinum Alligator coming soon but I am still wanting a giant longnose, Tropical and cuban

Your unique colored pattern "Florida" Gar reminds me alot of a true spotted gar. Nice fish.

As for this fish, the shape does remind me of this xanthic florida gar. Personally does not look like a hybrid to me. Looks like a large florida, or potentially a true spotted gar (these can vary quite drastically in pattern/snout length). Hard to say for sure without knowing where it actually came from.
