Gar Identification - Post your Gar to be ID'd HERE!!

Hi guys,

Today I bought 2 pieces of gar. I bought them with the name Lepisosteus ocellatus. Is it really "ocellatus"? I think it's Lepisosteus platyrhincus. You advise me?

Hi thanks for your reply. How much must have a minimum size to determine the species? I have one more piece of Florida gar. He is not the yellow color than these two. My Florida gar is about 1-2 cm smaller. Later I will add more photos.

Do you have collection locality data? I heard one shop there recently imported some from texas, but if you were not given that information i would assume that it would be a florida.

pics don't really do anything about saying a gar is FLG or SPG! Collected location and DNA test are what really count!
