I read that you don't even need the cooling period...
It's just that that's what they're used to in the wild, but isn't needed to live. Maybe somebody else could give more accurate input...

F1's too. Some of the species are much more prone to bloat without the cooling period, or have much shortened life spans. Deffinately better to do a cool down period.

Couldnt have said it better. If you dont do the cool down period they are said to "Burn Out". I believe G. balzanii is the only gymnogeo species that you can get away without a cool down period
