I would suggest that you try a floating worm feeder full of either blood/black/tubiflex-worms and let him eat as much as it wants, also keep the water temp at between 82F~85F to keep the fishes metabolic rate high. I wouldn't worry too much about veggies if your beast isn't eating them. Otherwise float a piece of lettuce in the tank.

Hmmmm that's funny my females have the spot/mark 90% of time while the males only show theremark every now and again. The dominate male mark is rarely seen. The dominate male is past that stage of showing off his spot.

It's weird, he will wash to a pale pink almost with just a faint outline of his spot...then, when he sees the lid open for food, he almost instantly will snap to dark and his spot is solid and black...he seems to be intriqued by the computer screen, it looks as though he watches it intently and movies he never seems to move out of the corner...he is a real character...
