what are good tankmates for a big RTGG?

i want him to be with some of these... aro, severums, NTT's, retic ray, p.bass, pacu...
any of those?

did you pickup the RTGG from that guy on here?

George is with a pacu and pleco with no problems. i am glad george is not aggressive.

How big is your GG? My big adult won't eat much variety - at the moment its just cos lettuce and ocassional other foods. My baby GG won't touch vegies but eats most pellets, cooked and raw shrimp.

George is about 9 inches from head to tail. i pick him up on christmas but dont know how old he is. any guess?

i am feeding him raw shrimp because superworms gets to messy. he seems to like raw shrimp for now. he will only eat marine pallets! very picky little fishy.

Try holding back on the food for a few days, then stand back out of reach and try dangling a shinny car part over the tank and see what happens. In most cases when my fish won't eat something new I'm happy but if I really want them to give it a try. I just hold back on feeding them for a few days, and sure enough they'll give it a try.

i feel bad not feeding them for one day. i would be afriad that he would eat his tank mates!

I would figure around a yr maybe a bit more, depends on tank size and feeding.

Ever try freeze dried Superworms? There Great!

Not sure of the abrev NTT's is though. But if it grows lg and has scales it should be ok.

I wouldn't chance the ray, but the rest sound good. Why you ask, rays have little if any body armor, so there alot like swimming de-shelled scallops with a tail - very fleshy - yummy to any RTGGs that I know of.

Depends totally on the fishes temperament, some will mix often alone others will fight, Master Tequila's spend most of their free time fighting with each other but he's lost other fish at times, mine all but wiped out a tank over night at 3.5'', that's 5 silver dollars(2 were twice the size) and 2 bala sharks all bigger than him, we've tried smaller gourami as tank mates since and it worked until one day he got bored and killed them

Great advise if they are not eating don't feed for a few days, had to do a 25% water change last night as the usual ton of fruit and veg was ignored because he was in a mood, he's now not being fed for 3 days:irked:

At 9'' Between 6-9 months old, difficult to nail it down more than that, depends on habitat and feeding, but it will out grow any tank, this fish embodies the 'does not grow to the tank' syndrome.

One of my first posts on here has a picture of a GG at an LFS I've recently seen the same fish again and it's bordering on cruelty it's that big, more than doubled in size.

BTW I only joined to use the search function;) If it's wasn't for this economic mess and job losses I've had extended the house and built Georges final tank(and I'll know if it is George or not I've got the dental records;)) adopted the fish then George really would have something to play with;)

no he ended up selling him before i could get there. :(
it was such a nice fish and such an awesome deal too...
i'm on the hunt for another one.

These fish live in the rivers here in Thailand where I live and they grow to huge sizes they are fairly common up country also infact so common they sell them in Tesco Lotus shopping stores for human consumption! :(

I had a 21 inch GG and it was proberly one of the best fish I owned now it stays at my inlaws home...........very very intelligent and yes the same as an oscar it can recognize people.
