Thanks guys. He doesn't get hassled and there are no sharp or rough objects in the tank so his fins have no excuse to be tatty.

Speaking of Gouramis I have a big question in a big font:

Can anyone get a red tailed GG to Adelaide Australia?????

They have been legalized here but no-one supplies them! I really want one.

my baby RTGG is about 5 inches and started eating veggies after watching PorkChop.
I know huh!? PorkChop can put the veggies away for sure...Have you tried lettuce? It is impressive to see how they can take a chomp and slash the bite right off the floating leaves...She can eat a 1/4 head of iceberg over night...;)

They are rare there but can be found there are some on here but if I remember correctly I think one member paid about $400aus for it.

I expected that - I paid $200AU for casper at 7cm. Rediculous!

Thanks for the references guys - I'll check out the Aussie thread.

i been feeding her a leaf of roman lettuce or spinach every night. havent tried iceberg yet. she has been getting along with her tankmates just fine even the new comers (chiclids)

question about driftwood: is it normal for driftwood to make the water brown? wood has been soaked for a good 2 months but i notice my water is not clear and getting light brown. is this bad?

Most Aquarium safe driftwood that I have used over the years, will leech "Tannins".
They are the natural acidic saps, that the wood used as an insecticide when it was living... They will continue to leech out until they are gone.
You will get a natural softening of the water along with the "tea colored" stain. This will not hurt your fish, as a matter of fact they will often get a soothing effect from them...If they bother you, as far as color of the water, just do frequent waterchanges...It helps keep the water more clear colored while the driftwood seasons...;)
