so fake plants are out of the question too? what if they are weighed down so i don't have to keep replanting them but can remain in the tank once he tears the $#!7 out of the (as it looks like he will )

they won't bother fake plants, but they like to push them around.

I had a 20 inch pink one in a 90 for 8 years and he used to love re-aquascaping his tank.

I miss him lol

probably well over a decade, maybe even two. the biggest fish usually live the longest.

yeah i think i'll do the fake plants and just weigh them down with some rocks and silicone.

he got what I believe was fish TB, but its hard to say since TB has such a wide range of symptoms.

He first went off his food, only eating a few days a week.

then, he began loosing weight.

this when on for months. He got skinnier and skinnier over several months, only eating some lettuce and a few pellets every now and then.

Then, he starting coughing up huge gobs of mucus, the tank was a mess and when he would cough it up he would loose the air from his labyrinth organ and rush up to gulp more. it was sad to watch.

I tried everything: piperazine, kanamycin, erythromcyin, you name it, I tried it.

I weighed him when he died, he was 5 pounds 14 oz. and he was skinny.

we figure he must have been close to 7 pounds when he was healthy.

these fish are very heavy when they are big, as they are long but also tall in the body.

big cats seem to be good tank mates i have an albino channel in with mine.
the one that I assume is the male can be very aggressive hated my sliver aro.
Mine are in a 220 and are 20+ inches

Those are SWEET!!! C'mon dude, find that article I'm dying to know at what age they start breeding.

I have 2 golds, 1 gray, and 4 of the red tails. Hoping to breed them also. I'm surprised nobody has, in the US, yet.
