Glasscages.com - too good to be true?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is another place called customaquariums or something like that which has decent prices I believe and has gotten good reviews from folks on this board.
checked it out, definitely good prices compared to most places but still significantly more than glasscages. For example, the 240gal on glasscages had a base price of $1161 and customaquariums had it for $1527. So I guess it comes down to quality and so far I've heard good things about glasscages

Youll find quite a few bad reviews for glasscages if you check google

I purchased a couple rimless setups in the past and they are the best bang for the buck just make sure they plan to pass by your area. In some cases they don't ship to certain areas.

A guy on another forum has a150 from them and hasnt reported any issues.

One thing to consider is shipping. When i was dealing them you had to pick the tank up from a distribution point or pay for shipping which was almost as much as the tank.

Im pretty sure www.customaquariums.com offers free delivery. Check out prices on acrylic tanks. I was suprised to find that they were cheaper than glass at the size i wanted and was roughly the se price at 3/4 inch thickness qhile the glass was 5/8 not sure what size your going with.
These are some of the builders i recieved quotes from.

Truvu
Fishtanksdirect (pretty sure shipping is free)
Midwest customs

thanks for the info guys. Ended up buying an acrylic 300 from an MFK'er, but good to know. As for the glasscages shipping, it's incredibly expensive door to door, but fairly reasonable to pick it up at their shipping centers, and they have one less than an hour from me. I'll definitely check out the other sites though before I get another (which is always sooner than expected lol)

Congrats now start a build thread... what are you doing for filtration ?

Well the tank has 2 weirs, one on each side, and each weir has a return and a drain. This is my first tank that I'll be using a sump, so I'm no expert. My basement has very low ceilings, so I can't fit a big enough sump underneath while leaving enough room to clean the sumps, so instead of one big sump with 2 pumps, I was considering running two sumps, one for each side, but my concern is that water will drain into them differently, and one will fill up while the other drains. Both will have brand new Jebao DCT 8000, so that should help equalize it, and I've done some research and some people drilled a hole in each sump and then connected them with a tube, so if one gets too high it will drain into the other.

Why not drill anotherr hole in each weir ? And do a herbie. Definitely start a build thread. If these guys can get me sump literate then anything is possible
