As Athletic_Amph mentioned, I think they're best selling point is price. They're really great for the price, but there's surely better options out there if you don't mind the price tags. I've also had a couple of them for 3-4 years without any issues. I've been buying mine on eBay from topdogsellers for years. I think he has some of the best prices on them, but I haven't shopped around lately.

I am currently using a finnex planted plus 48". I have it suspending quite a bit above the tank and tilted to shine more towards the back of the tank.
Thanks! I'll look that up too. You all have such nice pictures of your fish. Haha
Since I only ever use my cell camera I'd at least like to have good lighting.

MrsE88 MrsE88 I also use Beamswork LEDs. Absolute best price for freshwater tanks imho, especially if you're growing just a few plants or no plants at all[/QUOTE]

It's good to know it can also work for growing some plants. I do get lots of natural light, but if I do get plants later I think they would need a little more to really thrive. Thank you!

I might take a look on eBay, but so far amazon isn't looking to shabby price wise and I have prime so I get free shipping most of the time. I don't want to spend a lot since I don't bother with lights for viewing my fish on a regular basis. It's really mostly for pictures and I do like the option to use them for growing plants if I choose to go that route later on. I'm really sick of fake plants. Lol

I wish the pictures on amazon were of stocked tanks. For some reason they are always empty. Lol
For reference:

first pic is of the 36" Beamswork on my 40 breeder

and this is the 48" light that's on the 2nd and 3rd photo of my 55g. the same 48" light was also on my 125g 6' tank (it's not centered in the photo, but when it was centered it would light the tank perfectly)

I'm having to make some decisions with this tank already. The male that's been getting all the photo attention has been dominating the other two GT I purchased with him. Even in the 125, he has the other two pinned to their corners while he has 90% of the tank. This has been getting worse and worse over last week or so. Finally starting to show some abuse on one of the other GTs while both are showing no color.

Really wanted to keep these guys together, but I hate to see dominance like that when I care for the other two as well. I don't know if some of you would advise me to lett them work it out? I choose to take the two sub dominate GT out. I have them divided in a 40b until I decide on permanent homes for them.

So that was that. Little 3" GT now had the 125 to himself. I really dislike this idea. I want to see the interaction with other cichlids. I decided to throw in one of my females from another tank to experiment. Knowing she's bigger I was fully prepared to have to take her right back out. But here was the reaction...

...and boy was it fun to watch. The male went on like this until I turned the lights out. This morning she has settled in and has taken more hold on her position in the tank. Going to keep an eye on these two and see what happens. I will pull her if aggression gets to rough on the male. Wish I had a beautiful female for him... she's ok
