Guess what kind of Reptile

I would think this species is fairly uncommon in private collections due to it's orgins. Then again, I'm sure most of the founder stock came in before importation from that country was banned.

It is my belief that this viper is one of the following:

Green tree pit viper aka Trimeresurus gramineus or Gumprecht’s green pit viper aka Trimeresurus gumprechti.

Most probably the latter. Since they are recent discoveries and since this blog/forum/thread has done just about all of the other reptiles and a few frogs, it only stands to reason that it is the latter.

Bothriechis rowleyi from Mexico

That was a good one. You should go again. Is it bad taste to mark out the photographer's name and then later post the full picture with the name?

I realize it's a unique situation, but I sort of know this photographer and know he takes a lot of pictures at the San Antonio Zoo. And I have enough ties to know they keep B. rowleyi. Hence my rationale for not "guessing".

If you had marked out his name I probably would have guessed Bothriechis marchi due to the blue highlights.

Spectacular snake and photograph.

I think leaving the copyright or watermark on the photo is important. I usually prefer using my own photos for this...but I only have so many shots available to me. I'm sure Chris H. wouldn't mind me using his photo for this, that's why I picked it.

Yes, that animal was from the SA zoo.. Alan Kardon has procurred a nice group of rowleyi there. I think their group is consistantly producing offspring that have gone out to LA Zoo,San Diego, Dallas, Ft. Worth and I think Houston. I've seen some of the baby rowleyi up close at the LA zoo..pretty damn impressive in person. Yet, another reason to field herp in southern mexico!
