Oh, and as a comparison, the specimen pic that I posted was an adult, and in the two pics below are an adult G. anguillaris. Most of the Gymnotus sp. look very similar as juveniles, but as they grow they start to show their species-specific coloration. But, as a clue, the species I posted a pic of is only found around Tefe, Brazil...

Back to the search for the knifefish! Fugupuff got mine the burmese trout from Burma, Nepal, and parts of India (Raiamus guttatus.)

Wait this one sounds closer with the wide pale above and wide dark below from Tefe, G. melanopleura
