Paralichthys dentatus

Probably not...I know they live in North America but not sure about Europe.

Could your picture be reversed? That is definitely the english flounder and I found your picture of it but what threw me is it is a right eyed flounder and the pic shows it as left eyed. I checked every Atlantic, Baltic, Med, and blacksea left eyed flatfish in the data base.
I'm sure that RTF has it even though the pic is wrong.
The Paralichthys dentatus has a dorsal fin that extends to far forward
The Pleuronectes flesus and the Platichtys flesus are apparently the same fish and is listed both ways depending on the database.

Yeah your right...but you know what, I was looking at the pics you posted...the second one to be more exact, that fish's dorsal extends pretty far but LOL...I was not even looking at the fish that needed to be IDed...I feel dumb.

RTF & CAPO called it. It is a Platichthys flesus. It'd be nice to get these in the US. Like I said, I caught one about 200 miles up the Garonne River when I lived in Figeac, France. And, kept it alive for years in a 20 breeder tank. It lived on table scraps, crushed land snails, earthworms, and minnows (all I could find for it when I was 12).

As I recall there's a feral population of them in Lake Erie that are thought to have been brought in via ballast water in transatlantic vessels. But, they aren't expected to become established as they breed in marine environments. I'm not sure about this, but I remeber reading something like it fairly recently, lol...

Oddball, I think it is a trip that the pic is backwards. No me are waiting for RTF, though Capo was right behind him. I got distracted by pretty pictures of banded tongue fish.
